  1. Per Tyler Gernant: From a billing and collecting standpoint, this sounds great. That said, I'm guessing there would be some serious concerns about the hit to revenue, especially since we've already been hit pretty hard this year and will need to make it up somehow. This would certainly make that more difficult.

  2. Representatives,
Missoula County opposes HB 558 - Revise tax rates to mitigate reappraisal, on the House floor this afternoon. The goal of two year reappraisal cycle, codified in SB 157 in the 2015 session, was to introduce greater accuracy into the reappraisal process thereby eliminating the need to constantly adjust rates and let the market determine the relationships among the classes of property. HB 558 is yet another shift in the tax burden to local tax payers. The reduction in value of the various classes outlined in HB 558 will require an increase in the mills levied at the local level. Continuous reductions in what should be relatively predictable revenue, such as property classes and entitlement share, mean an increase in property taxes for Missoula County residents. Please oppose HB 558.
