    Missoula County supports HB 504 - Generally revise net metering laws, before House Energy, Technology and Federal Relations this afternoon. HB 504 would remove many limitations existing in current renewable energy policy by raising the net metering cap to one megawatt and by generating community solar projects. These projects are particularly important, as they allow those who are unable to install solar panels to choose to invest in a local solar project and receive solar credits to be applied to their energy bills. This is beneficial for renters and homeowners who are unable to install panels. HB 504 also allows for aggregate net metering, allowing one metered system to be applied to multiple energy accounts. Additionally, HB 504 allows public utilities to apply leftover net metering credits to a nonprofit organization.
