  1. Per Bernie Roy: PHC is concerned this allows a risk plus situation with two employees with the least education in their fields to potentiate an error in patient care. Medical Assistants have very little knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, or any type of physical assessment. We would not allow this to be a standard at any of our 7 clinics. Physicians or Nurse Practitioners are the only disciplines qualified to work in a isolated provider setting with a Medical Assistant. If a physician or NP is available and responsible for the oversight, then a PA can work with a MA.
