  1. Sending the following end of day tomorrow:

    Senator Wolken,

Missoula County supports HB 7 - Reclamation and development grants, being heard in Senate Finance and Claims tomorrow morning. HB 7 includes funding for the Ninemile Creek Housem Placer Mine Reclamation project, which is ranked seventh and has been recommended for funding. This project is part of a larger and ongoing effort to address impacts from historic mining in the Ninemile watershed. Previous Reclamation and Development Grants awarded to Missoula County have been crucial to the comprehensive mine reclamation and stream restoration effort in the Ninemile watershed, which Missoula County has partnered with Trout Unlimited and the Lolo National Forest to undertake. The six completed projects have addressed a number of problems caused by historic mining in the area, and this project is expected to improve public safety, water quality, fisheries, and riparian wildlife habitat. In addition, these projects provide local and regional economic benefits through employing private sector restoration contractors, with on average 95% of grant funds going to local and regional contractors.

Please support HB 7 and project #7.
