    Senators Wolken, Barrett and Malek,
    Missoula County opposes SB 78 – Revise reimbursement of net metered generations, before Senate Energy and Telecommunications this afternoon. SB 78 would limit the net metering rate for Montanans by cutting the value of extra funds being put through the grid by net metering customers. This would create a separate rate class for customer generators of electricity. SB 78 does not take into account any of the benefits to the electrical grid that local production supplies.  No verified data has been collected to support this change in rate structure. As a result, net metering customers would lose fair value compensation. Missoula County has invested in solar technology and looks to ensure those who participate in renewable energy are properly compensated.
    Please oppose SB 78.
