    Representative Hertz,

Missoula County supports HB 226 – Increase property tax abatement for new or expanding industry, as heard this morning in House Taxation. This will lower the tax rate for new or expanding industries that qualify under the statute provisions from 50 percent to 25 percent of the total tax bill in the first five years. The tax rate returns to 100 percent of the total within the next five years, or 15 percent per year, as compared to the 10 percent currently being returned. Taxing jurisdictions will lose one year of tax revenue but this bill encourages large investments in infrastructure, which creates industry. HB 226 will attract new or expanding businesses to Montana.

    Please support HB 226.

    Respectfully,

Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commission
