SB 27

LC0413

  1. Per Dori Brownlow: "Yesterday I visited with Janet Cornish and Lanette Windemaker about this bill. The bill adds burdens to local governments in administering tif districts by adding reporting and hearing requirements. The budgets and actual revenues and expenditures are all public information and approved at public meetings. The bill seems to attempt to tell local government how to conduct its business without adding any benefit to tif districts."

  2. Sending the following message to Senators Barrett and Malek this afternoon:

    Senator Barrett/Malek

Missoula County opposes SB 27 – Amend TIF laws related to public hearings and reporting, before Senate Taxation tomorrow morning. This bill adds redundant reporting and hearing requirements which are already met at the local level for the benefit of those within and adjacent to the district. The budgets, actual revenues and expenditures are already approved in public meetings and are public information. TIF districts continue to be the sole tool local governments are able to utilize for economic development. The bill provides no additional benefits to TIF districts.

    Please oppose SB 27.

    Respectfully,
Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners
