  1. Sending the following to Senators Barrett & Fielder:

Missoula County supports SB 18 – Establish wildfire reduction funding process, before Senate Natural Resources this afternoon. The costs of wildland fire fighting have risen dramatically each year and that trend is set to continue. One of the most effective tools in mitigating wildland fire risks is the reduction of hazardous fire fuels. SB 18 creates a grant program to encourage private land owners to reduce hazardous fuels on their property. This bill provides a mechanism for the continued reduction of these fuels. Missoula County works closely with DNRC and supports their efforts to further protect lives and property.

    Representatives,

Missoula County supports HB 18 - Revise tax lien and tax deed laws on the House floor this afternoon. This bill provides more clarity than existing law and eliminates some conflicting provisions. It also enhances the notice that a taxpayer receives regarding delinquent taxes. Finally, it eliminates the annual tax lien sale. The County would now take all tax liens and go through the assignment process, which is more familiar to most treasurers. Please concur with the Senate Amendments and Support HB 18.
