  1. Per Bryce Christiaens: Missoula County Weed District supports HB622. This bill establishes the Montana Invasive Species Council in statute and the Upper Columbia River Conservation Commission. Both of these entities are essential to coordinating Montana’s efforts to prevent and control invasive species, and especially aquatic invasive species like zebra and quagga mussels in our state. Montana’s invasive species efforts are and must be bigger than any one agency, and in order to be successful, it is critical that a coordinated effort of Montana’s local, state, tribal and federal agencies and governments work together along with private industry, natural resource and agriculture interest groups, homeowners associations, private citizens and other interested stakeholders. This is a need that has been identified on a statewide level and a watershed level, and this bill meets the needs of both. Please support HB622.
