  1. Representatives,
As amended, HB 565 - Revise entitlement share laws, on the House floor this afternoon, will reduce revenues to Missoula County by $197,000 over the next two years. Building a structurally sound budget is an increasingly difficult task with continued cuts to revenues, increases in operational expenses due to inflation and other factors, and unanticipated expenses such as the upcoming special election. MACo supports the amendments to HB 565 in an effort to help the State balance its budget. We agree that this is an important endeavor, however, continued cuts to the entitlement share will simply shift the burden on to local tax payers in Missoula County.

    Respectfully,
Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commission

    Senators,

Missoula County continues to oppose HB 565 - Revise entitlement share laws, being heard on the Senate floor this morning. As amended, HB 565 will reduce revenues to Missoula County by $197,000 over the next two years and now adversely impacts the growth in business equipment tax reimbursements. Building a structurally sound budget is an increasingly difficult task with continued cuts to revenues, increases in operational expenses due to inflation and other factors, and unanticipated expenses such as the upcoming special election. Continued cuts to the entitlement share will again shift the burden on to local taxpayers in Missoula County.

    Please oppose HB 565.
