HB 582

LC1637
Greg Hertz

Montana pet breeders act

2 comments:

  1. Per Jeff Darrah: This bill if passed will ensure that pet breeding facilities are licensed and inspected. This will prevent puppy mills with all of the horror's that come from breeders that take shortcuts and treat animals as only ways to make money. This will if passed allow for a board and away to generate revenue to run the program. If this bill is not passed counties will still be faced with many cruelty situations and the confiscation of large numbers of animals, which can costs the taxpayers of the county thousands of dollars.

Hopefully if this bill is passed the pet industry in Montana becomes more professional, animals are treated more humanely and people trying to make a fast buck no matter the conditions will be put out of business.

  2. Sending the following message end of day:

    Representatives Curdy, Loge and Olsen,
Missoula County supports HB 582 – Montana pet breeders act, being heard tomorrow morning in House Business and Labor. HB 582 will ensure pet breeding facilities are licensed and inspected. As a result, breeders will be held more accountable, which in turn will better support animal shelters, such as the Missoula City-County Animal Control facility. Counties are often faced with many cruelty situations and must confiscate large numbers of animals which is a cost to taxpayers. HB 582 will provide better standards in the animal breeding industry to provide more humane treatment of animals.

    Please support HB 582.
