Representatives Dudik, Hopkins, Ryan, and Tschida, Missoula County supports HB 9 – Cultural and aesthetic grants, particularly grant #1916 for the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, being heard in House Appropriations this afternoon. The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula is one of Western Montana’s largest museums, and welcomes over 45,000 visitors annually to learn of the History of Missoula County, Fort Missoula, Montana’s Forest Products Industry, and the WWII Alien Detention Center at Fort Missoula. Grant #1916 will provide for the museum to update their main lobby and to make the historic 1911Quartermaster’s Storehouse more engaging, educational, and visitor friendly. Additionally, the grant would update the admissions area with the creation of a central map, educational backpacks, and additional technology that would help us to better engage youth. A technology upgrade would allow us to purchase tablets and pre-loaded them with our interactive grounds map, a kid’s scavenger hunt and other educational activities, and a short survey that would help us better understand the needs and interests of our visitors. Please support HB 9 and Grant #1916.
