HB 388

LC1635
Greg Hertz

Revise irrigation district election laws

5 comments:

  1. Per Rebecca Connors: I support this bill. HB 388 is in response to a 2016 lawsuit Lake County Election Office faced from an irrigation district election. Voter qualifications for an irrigation district election are primarily based off of property ownership. Election Offices do not track property ownership in the voter database, which creates a difficult situation for an Election Administrator to obtain accurate tax and ownership information. HB 388 would require Irrigation Districts to maintain a voter lists based off of their district records. This list could be supplemented with the Election Administrator's voter records to provide an accurate voter list for an election. HB 388 assists Election Administrators and supports the integrity of the election process.
