“Missoula County supports HB 107 - Establish surface water assessment and monitoring program, before House Natural Resources this afternoon. This bill would establish a surface water monitoring program within the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBMG). MBMG currently manages excellent water monitoring programs, conducts credible work, and coordinates well with local agencies, such as water quality districts. The establishment of a committee to oversee this program includes an opportunity to broaden the scope to include local government representation. This would allow Missoula County to be directly involved with surface water monitoring and management issues within the program.
