Overall, this bill would result in a reduction in wait time for court processes for children in foster care by creating deadlines. That is a good thing for foster children. On the other side, this could result in a need for increased resources for the court system, including attorneys to move cases forward more quickly. All of these things lead me to advise that we do not weigh in at this juncture but consider doing if it advances and questions of resources are answered or we have had a chance to hear from the county attorneys office with their input. Again, reducing court wait times is a good move for foster children.
The Montana Association of Clerks of District Court has no concerns with this bill relative to the duties of the Clerk.
