Per Rebecca Connors: "Oppose HB 155. We have both private and public sector election judges that can work in November because of this holiday. They'll decline work in June, but can work November and these are competent and capable workers that we rely on. Also, many schools observe this holiday which allows us to use their facilities while class is not in session."
“Missoula County strongly opposes HB 155 - Eliminate election day as state holiday, before House State Administration tomorrow morning. Missoula County relies heavily on the private and public sectors for 600 election judges we must employ to administer elections on Election Day. Removing the state holiday, but keeping the federal holiday disrupts critical continuity election judges need to maintain their knowledge and ensure integrity in our elections administration. Additionally, many schools observe this holiday which allows us to use their facilities for polling places without disrupting the school day. Please oppose HB 155.”
