    Representative Curdy,

Missoula County supports HB 644 - Restricting unmanned aerial vehicle operation as a result of wildland fire, being heard in House Natural Resources this afternoon. HB 644 aims to address a new and real hazard associated with unmanned aerial devices operating near wildland fires and affecting operations. Recently, there have been numerous occurrences across the county related to unmanned aerial devices that have endangered the lives of firefighters and pilots operating on these incidents. Often when these encounters occur, the only recourse state and federal agencies have is to shut down air operations due to safety concerns; taking these needed resources away from their primary mission. HB 644 to help ensure safer skies for aerial firefighting resources.

    Please support HB 644.

    Respectfully,

Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commission
