    Senators,

Missoula County opposes HB 650 as amended - Implement the provisions of the general appropriations bill Section D – on the Senate floor this morning. HB 650 contains language that would move the Montana Board of Crime Control from the Department of Justice to the Department of Corrections. While this change seems administrative in nature, at the State level it will impact the federal funding provided by the Board of Crime Control. Federal partners have advised that the grants currently awarded across the state of Montana will need to be returned to the granting agencies and new applications and agreements crafted. This will result in a loss of $450,000 in grant dollars to Missoula County. These grants are used to provide vital victim services, including temporary restraining order assistance, assistance for domestic and sexual assault victims and other victims of crime.

Please oppose HB 650 as amended.
